Our story
Ístex was established to carry on the Icelandic wool industry that started in Mosfellsbær in 1896. Ístex buys the wool directly from farmers and processes about 99% of all Icelandic wool. Icelandic farmers own 80% of the company.
Lopidraumur translates to "Lopi-Dream" and is one of Ístex's brands. Our commitment is to offer high quality products from Icelandic wool to customers that choose natural, sustainable and eco-friendly living. Our wool is certified STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®.
But why wool?
Studies have shown that sleeping with wool can have positive effect on your health. It can lower heart rate, and increase REM sleep.
Icelandic wool is thermo-regulating and therefore suitable for all seasons. When you are cold, the wool warms you without causing clamminess, thanks to moisture-wicking benefits which is one of the big advantages of sleeping surrounded by wool.
